It’s that busy time of the year where we indulge in yummy food and over drink – it’s the Christmas fever!
With that comes also a few complaints too….
- “I’m gaining weight”
- “It’s such an expensive time of the year”
- “I’m so busy”
- “I can’t be bothered to spend Christmas with the extended family..” oops I probably shouldn’t have said that one out loud!
- The list goes on….
But what we forget about the most is – it’s the time to be extra grateful for our blessings.
The advent calendar is the perfect way to remind ourselves to be grateful everyday (not just during the Christmas season). Every time you, your partner or children indulge in that yummy chocolate!
It’s as simple as writing down each day three things that you are grateful for. WAIT! One rule – you have to include yourself in the list, something you are grateful about YOU!
I am generally not a complainer and consider myself a positive person most of the time! But of course I have my moments and complain about something at least once a day.
- The kids didn’t sleep enough
- The house is a mess
- I haven’t sat all day
- I want to go on holiday…
So I’ve decided to take up the 21 day “no complaints challenge”. Every time I find myself complaining I have to go back to day one! I started 3 days ago and I am on day 2!! Not so bad I guess. Over time, something fundamentally shifts within. I do believe when we focus on the good we have, the more good comes our way.
So in a time when I am particularly home sick and miss my parents and childhood friends, I am reminding myself that I am extremely grateful for all that I have right here and now.
Our health, beautiful and healthy children/monkeys, an amazing supportive husband and a wonderful group of friends.
I really couldn’t ask for more.
So as we start the month of December and we get our advent chocolate calendars, let’s remind ourselves and our family just how lucky we all are!
A final note of gratitude is all the support and positive feedback received on Balancing Act! I appreciate all the love! Without my support network, I wouldn’t have been able to have 5 successful workshops in the first 6 months following launch! It also gave us the opportunity to meet incredible and inspiring women along the way! I couldn’t have done it without you and I am ever so GRATEFUL!!
Lots of love,
