WHO IS MARNEY?

The story so far…..

Born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand, married … then not, one wonderful boy who keeps me solid and full of fun all at the same time.  And a cat, naturally!

Mother, business woman, mentor, avid student of life….  So many hats.

This particular story starts about 4 years ago when I returned to New Zealand from living and working in London (wonderful, wonderful city) and went back to doing what I had always done – working for someone else in chartered accountancy.  After 6 months I knew I had long grown out of that particular role.  So I boldly resigned … but took the baby step of contracting myself back to Chartered Accountants.  For someone so entrenched in the apparent ‘security’ of being an employee it took me time to feel comfortable with the new ‘self employed’ hat I was now wearing.

I have always loved business and admired those who have the courage to risk it all to do what they love and be all they can be.  Slowly but surely I knew that I wanted to support those people, so Balancing Act was born.  And even though it is still a baby, it is growing and growing, and so am I.

So my role now, is to bring all my past experience dealing with small business to you.  I’m not going to tell you how to run your business, but I will help you to understand how the way you run your business impacts on you financially….and let’s face it, your business supports your life and we all want a great big wonderful life.

So where to now?  Right now more of the same – growing, expanding, learning and grasping the opportunities as they come.

THE FORMALITIES

Many years working for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and various other smaller Chartered Acountants preparing management and tax accounts for small business.  Best part of the job, helping small business get ahead!

A number of years working in London for some brilliant companies including BBC, Virgin, Reed Publishing and even Telecom NZ in various finance roles.
